DEXTER, BRENDA B. (nee BAER), 87, of Vero Beach, FL, formerly of Mahwah and Franklin Lakes, NJ, died peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in the VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach, FL

Born in Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, FL, she was brought up in NJ. Brenda leaves her three beloved children, Gregory Van Dyke, from Sebastian, FL, Barry Van Dyke from Vero Beach, FL (wife Mary VanDyke) and Valerie Moore, (husband John Moore) Vero Beach, FL and her loving family of many nieces and nephews, devoted grandchildren, Mandy Cardin (husband Jimmy), Jake Moore, Brian VanDyke, Billy VanDyke, and the late Andrew VanDyke (2017), three great grandchildren, Amanda, Shelby and Creed Cardin, and precious, caring coworkers and parishioners at Western Union, United Parcel Service, and the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Brenda was the beloved daughter of the late Cyril Ralph Baer (whose family owned four silk mills in Paterson and Carlisle, PA, and Grace (nee Graham) Baer, and resided in Mahwah and Franklin Lakes, most of her life.

She was brought up in NJ and worked for over 20 years for Western Union, Upper Saddle River, as Word Processing Supervisor, and for over 26 years for United Parcel Service in the Personnel Department. Brenda was a graduate of Pompton Lakes High School (where she was very active, President of the Student Council, and Recipient of the DAR Award and Honor Roll) and graduated from Passaic Community College, Paterson, NJ, specializing in Business Administration. She was a parishioner for over 30 years of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Wyckoff Avenue, Ramsey, NJ, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served in many different stations. She served as President of the Western Union Retirement Association. She was an avid square dancer and traveled throughout the country participating in many special occasions. Brenda’s hobbies included reading books, working on puzzles, sewing, crocheting, and enjoying life.

Friends and family will be received by Manke Memorial Funeral & Cremation Services at the Scillieri-Arnold Funeral Home facility on Monday, June 8th, from 10:00 AM- 11:00 AM for a Memorial Visitation, 351 Fifth Avenue, Paterson, NJ 07514. An Easteran Star Service will be held at 10:30 AM during the Memorial Visitation. Burial of Brenda's Cremated remains will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brenda’s name to the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 55 Wyckoff Avenue, Ramsey, NJ 07446
