Lawrence was a WWII veteran and served in the US Navy from 1944-1946. Previous to that he served in the US Merchant Marine during the war you could join the Merchant Marine when you were 16 years old, and he did that, and was inducted into the Navy when he was old enough). During his Navy service he was a gunner on Liberty Ships that sailed to many ports and also served on an attack transport ship, the USS Kenton. While serving on the Kenton he was part of the fleet that attacked Okinawa, and he was at Okinawa when the war ended. Before retiring Larry was a Truck Driver and Member of the Teamsters Union.
Cremation was private. His cremated remains will be buried at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
