LUCENTE, NANCY ELLEN, (née SITZ), 77, of Great Kills, Staten Island, NY died peacefully on Thursday, February 11, 2021, surrounded by her precious family.
Born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn in 1944, Nancy was the second of 4 daughters born to the late Felicia (née Kragiel) of New Britain, CT, and Albert Sitz of Hamburg, Germany. Nancy was predeceased by her sisters, the late Joyce (2016) & Anthony DiNardi (2016), Phyllis (2019) & Dominick (2016) Bartolomeo, and is survived by her younger sister, Valerie & the late Mohsen (1999) Mahmoud. Nancy is also survived by her beloved sons, Albert & (Bianca) and Domenic & (Colleen) Lucente, and cherished granddaughters, Kayla and London.
Growing up in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, Nancy especially adored her father and they spent many hours together fixing things; and washing the mirrors and wiping down the bottles at the bar where her father worked. Nancy’s most carefree and happy childhood memories centered around those many summers she spent with her beloved paternal grandmother, Amelia Sitz (née Manke) at her home in then-rural New Britain, CT. Nancy could still remember, decades later, the sweet taste and heavenly scent of the huckleberry pies she and her grandmother made from the freshly picked fruit Nancy collected in her basket.
As a single mom on Staten Island, Nancy supported her young family cleaning homes and building her client base as a psychic reader, developing clairvoyant gifts she first became aware of as a child. Several of her clients went on to become lifelong friends. In the 1980s and 90s, Nancy also volunteered many hours as a psychic, assisting local police in their efforts to find missing children. Nancy was an active member of the Christ Lutheran Church of Staten Island.
The greatest gifts in Nancy’s life were her two young granddaughters. The time she was able to spend with them was, for her, pure joy. She will always watch over them and remain close to them. Nancy’s ready smile, infectious chuckle, and loyal motherly care to all her loved ones are her eternal legacy.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, February 16th from 10:00-11:00 AM at Christ Lutheran Church, 121 Cleveland Ave, Staten Island, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM following visitation. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island.
